The National Center for Atmospheric Research labs in Boulder, Colorado (designed by the great architect I.M. Pei). The work of NCAR researchers exemplifies the high level of excellence that the US Government – in this case, through partnership with a consortium of universities – can sometimes achieve. Among much other work, NCAR hosts a leading Global Climate Model (the supercomputer is pictured here).
